NHL's 75th Anniversary Season

Le Colisee was the former home of the Quebec Nordiques. It kind of looks like an Airplane Hanger from the outside. Inside was a good old fashion Hockey Arena. No JumboTron Video Boards, No leg Room, and for a building so old, not that many obstructed seats. Maybe I was just getting into the mood, French speaking fans, "Crazy" Claude playing his trumpet, fans watching the game for the sport of it and not hoping for a brawl. Plus, it was a packed house, and the Nords stunk back then. I enjoyed the whole experince.

Notice the Nords wearing the dark at home. During the '91-'92 season, which was the 75th in the History of the NHL, after the All-Star break the teams switched to wearing their road sweaters at home. Back when the league started it was customary for the home team to wear dark. Quebec had been through a lot, they finished last overall 3 years in a row. By finishing last they got to pick first overall every year and built a nice young team through the draft. Their last season in Quebec they won the NorthEast Division and Home Ice throughout the Eastern Conference Playoffs. They were upset in the 1st round by the Rangers. The next season they won the Cup, calling Colorado home.

Arena Rating : B+
